Fall in the Catskill Mountains feels pulled from the pages of a storybook, with its rolling blue peaks, misty golden mornings, and winding trout streams. It is home to some of the most spectacular foliage in the country and Washington Irving's legend of Rip Van Winkle.
Nicknamed the Borscht Belt in the mid 20th century, the region quickly became one of America's first great mountain escapes. The area also holds a special place in music history as the site of the legendary Woodstock music festival in 1969. The Catskills are especially renowened for fly-fishing, with legendary rivers like the Beaverkill and Willowemoc having shaped American angling tradition.
